Welcome back to school September 5

The Hillhurst School Council warmly welcomes new and returning students and families back to school Tuesday September 5. Be sure to stop by the Welcome Hut just outside the front doors for a breakfast snack and a beverage. This is a great way to re-connect or meet other Hillhurst School parents, ask questions, and find out what activities and volunteer opportunities are available through our Council and School Society for the 2017-18 school year. Hope to see you then!

Nest Egg Cheque Writing Campaign update

A huge thank you to all who have contributed to the Hillhurst School Nest Egg Cheque Writing Campaign. As a result of your generous donations to date more than $20,000 has been raised to support program enrichment initiatives at Hillhurst School.

If you have not yet had the opportunity to contribute, it’s never too late. Donations in any amount are welcome and can be made by cheque, cash and electronically via PayPal on the School Council website (http://hillhurstschoolcouncil.com/).

Donations are eligible for a tax credit. The first $200 of all your charitable giving entitles you to a tax credit of 25% (10% provincial tax credit and 15% federal tax credit). You are entitled to a tax credit of 50% for all charitable gifts exceeding the initial $200 (21% provincial tax credit and 29% federal tax credit). After the tax credit, a contribution of $500 costs you $250, a $1,000 contribution costs you $500, and a $2,500 contribution costs you $1,250.

The Hillhurst (Community) School Society recognizes our Hillhurst Hibou Leaders for their remarkable contributions to Hillhurst School. With a contribution to the Nest Egg of $500 or greater you will join this year’s Hillhurst Hibou Leaders (see below).

Thank you for your generous donations so far. We guarantee our kids are worth it!

Sincerely,

Hillhurst (Elementary) Community School Society
